Frequently Asked Questions

Yes 👍

Provident specialise in helping people with a less than perfect credit score, including people with a poor credit history.

Whilst they do look at your credit file, it’s not the only thing, which also includes your personal circumstances and how affordable the loan is for you.

Provident understand that having a bad credit rating doesn’t reflect the whole story and you may still qualify.

This depends on your affordability, personal circumstances and whether or not you’re an existing customer:

  • New customers: £100 to £1,000
  • Existing customers: up to £2,500

To see how much your weekly payments will be for different loan amounts, and over various terms, see Provident’s loan calculator.

When you take a loan out with Provident, they will always tell you up front what your weekly payment will be; they have no hidden or unexpected charges.

There is a 3 step process:

  1. Apply online
  2. An affordability assessment is done with you over the phone
  3. The loan is then paid out into your bank account

Typically from start to finish 2 – 3 days, but can be sooner.

The approximate timings for each step is summarised below:

  1. Online application form – 5 minutes
  2. Chat with rep to confirm where to send all documents – 5 to 10 minutes
  3. Chat with rep to go through the application – 30 minutes (if they have your documents)
  4. Once the application is approved you will be sent the funds by midnight the next working day

Yes, but don’t worry 👍

You are credit checked to help confirm things such as your

  • ID
  • Residency status
  • You’re not insolvent (bankrupt or in an IVA)

Provident might be able to help you even if you been turned down by other ‘bad credit lenders’.
